Poker-Session in 923

Nach dem traditionellen Sonntag-Abendessen (hmmm, Lasagne) mit den anderen Karlsruhern (zumindest versuchen wir eine Tradition daraus zu machen), sind wir zu mir und haben ne Runde Poker gezockt. Am Anfang sah es für mich ganz gut aus, aber nachdem Rui nicht auf einen Bluff reingefallen ist, war ich ganz schön im Minus.

After the traditional Sunday dinner (hmmm, Lasagne) with the other guys from Karlsruhe (at least we try to make it a tradition), we went to my place we gamble a little bit of Poker. At the beginning it looked quite good for me, but after Rui didn't fall for my bluff, I was deeply in the red.

Halloween Party at Idrottshögskolan

Immer nur in Clubs zu gehen ist irgendwann auch langweilig. Eine Halloween-Party in drottshögskolan, der Sporthochschule, war da mal eine angenehme Abwechslung. Die Spanier wussten von der Party, da eine Freundin von Dani dort studiert.	Going to clubs all the time becomes, somewhere down the road, boring. A Halloween party in Idrottshögskolan, the sports high school, was a pleasant variety. The Spaniards knew about the party, as a friend of Dani studies there.
Die Party war genial, nur Studenten, die meisten verkleidet, gute Stimmung. Aber ein Bild sagt bekanntlich mehr als tausend Worte:	The party was genial, only students, most of them in disguise, good vibes. As is generally known, a picture is worth a 1000 words:

Odyssee in Stockholm

Der Freitag Abend ist zu einer echten Odyssee ausgeartet. Ursprünglich wollten wir mal wieder zu The Vibe, aber wir waren einen paar Minuten zu spät und wären nicht mehr umsonst rein gekommen. Zahlen wollten die Portugiesen aber nicht.	The Friday evening became a real odyssee. Originally, we wanted to go to the Vibe, but we were a few minutes to late and we would not have entered for free any longer. But the Portuguese didn't want to pay.
Also sind wir weiter gezogen an den Stureplan und sind in den Sturehof, in die Obaren. Da saßen dann lauter versnobte Mitdreißiger rum, die an teuren Drinks genuckelt haben. Also sind wir da wieder raus.	So we moved on to Stureplan and entered the bar in Sturehof, the Obaren. There were siting nobody but snobbish people in the thirties, sipping at expensive drinks. So we left.
Dann hatte jemand, die glorreiche Idee, doch mal in die Spy Bar zu gehen. Genau, zwölf Typen kommen um halb 12 in einen der angesagtesten Clubs in Stockholm. Das war natürlich zum Scheitern verurteilt.	Then, somebody had the glorious idea, we could go to the Spy Bar. Yeah, right, twelve guys can enter one of the hottest clubs in Stockholm at around half past 11. This was of course doomed to failure.
Die Ratlosigkeit wurde immer größer und Benham hat vorgeschlagen doch ins Aladdin zu gehen, das sei wohl ganz gut. Wir wussten nur dass es irgendwo bei der Drottningsgatan ist. Nach gut 20 Minuten herum irren haben wir es auch tatsächlich gefunden. Der Dialog zwischen dem Türsteher und mir lief ungefähr so ab:	The helplessness grew and Benham proposed to go to the Aladdin, that should be quite good. We knew that it was somewhere around Drottningsgatan. After around 20 minutes of straying, we actually found it. The dialog between the bouncer and me passed approximately like this:

"Hey, how old are you?"

"24."
"Sorry, you have to be 27."
"27?"
"Yes, most of our customers are around 35, you know."
"Okay, to old for us anyway."
"Yeah, only MILFs, you know."

Gut, die Nummer mit den MILFs war zwar für einen Lacher gut, aber in einem Club waren wir immer noch nicht. Also zurück nach Stureplan. Nach 30 Minuten Fußmarsch waren wir genauso schlau wie vorher. (Für die denen MILF nichts sagt, Wikipedia ist dein Freund (Tip: nein, hat nichts mit der Moro Islamic Liberation Front zu tun))	Well, the thing with the MILFs was good for a laugh, but we still weren't in a club. So back to Stureplan. After 30 minutes of walk, we were as clever as before. (For those who don't get it with the MILFs, check Wiktionary)
Wir sind dann zur Sturecompagniet. Richtig, nicht "in" sonder "zu", weil wir erst mal eine gute Viertel Stunde anstehen mußten.	We then went to Sturecompangniet. Right, not "into" but "to", as we had to wait a quarter hour first.
Nachdem der Türsteher dann gnädig zu uns war und wir 120 kr Eintritt plus 20 kr Garderobe bezahlt hatten, haben wir dann festgestellt, dass der Laden zwar echt ein cooles Ambiente hat und im VIP-Bereich (in den wir nicht rein durften) auch was los war, aber der Rest war relativ leer. Die Party schön saufen war bei 56 kr für ein Bier auch keine Option.	After the bouncer was gracious to us and we had paid 120 kr for entrance plus 20 kr for wardrobe, we noticed that the club has a really nice ambiance, and something was going on in the VIP area (where we could not enter), but the rest was quite empty. At 56 kr for a beer, becoming a bit tipsy to have some fun was not an option.

Glücklicherweise habe ich Mikael getroffen, der mit zwei Freunden da war und es war dann noch ganz nett, aber vielleicht wären wir besser gleich ins Vibe gegangen.

Luckily, I met Mikael, who was there with two friends and it was quite nice, but maybe we should have gone to the Vibe in first instance.

Schnee - Snow

Schwer vorzustellen, aber wahr: es ist erster November und was sehe ich als ich morgens die Vorhänge aufziehe?	Hardly imaginable, but it's the first of November and what do I see in the morning as I open the curtains?
Schnee!!!	Snow!
Es waren allerdings nur gut der Boden bedeckt und am Mittag waren die Straßen schon wieder trocken. Am hat es dann Nachmittag noch einmal richtig angefangen zu schneien und abends lagen dann ein paar Zentimeter.	But it just covered the ground and around noon, the streets were dry again. In the afternoon, it started to snow again and in the evening, there were a few centimeters.
Als es wieder angefangen hat zu schneien, saß ich gerade mit den Portugiesen in der Vorlesung. Da einige von ihnen es noch erlebt hatten, wenn es schneit, haben sie sich gefreut wie kleine Kinder.	When it started to snow again, I just sat in a lecture with the Portuguese. As some of them never experienced it snowing before, they were pleased like small children.

Schnee am ersten November, damit war ja schon fast zu rechnen. Allerdings sollte man meinen die Schweden können damit umgehen. Mitnichten! Abends herrschte das totale Chaos. Rund um das Banana-Building standen Autos, soweit das Auge reicht. U-Bahnen waren verspätet und Busse sind irgendwann ganz ausgefallen. Insbesondere die Flughafen-Busse, wie Patrick feststellen durfte. Er hat nämlich 6 Stunden am T-Centralen auf seine Eltern gewartet, die heute angekommen sind.

Snow on first of November, one could reckon that. However one should think that Swedes can handle it. By no means! In the evening, there was a total chaos. Around the banana building, cars were stopped, as far as one could see. Subways were late, buses stopped at all at some time. Especially the airport shuttle buses, as Patrick had to find out. He waited 6 hours at T-Centralen for his parents, which arrived today.

Vielleicht hast du die kleine Lücke seit dem letzten Eintrag bemerkt. Eigentlich wollte ich chronologisch schreiben, aber über den Schnee wollte ich doch zeitnah schreiben. Ich habe natürlich auch im Oktober was erlebt und werde das auch nachholen.

Maybe you noticed the small gap since my last entry. Actually I wanted to write chronologically, but I wanted to promptly write about the snow. Of course, I also exprienced somthing during October and I will also make up for it.
